Doug this is a copy and paste from his email.
"The individual the authenticated to Helmet put the value at $12,000.00. He also stated that determining the authenticity of an item goes beyond the physical appearance, taking into account where the item was obtained, who obtained the item, and where the item was made. I paid $1000.00 for the authentication and was offered 7000.00 by the individual who performed the service."
That was when I suggested he had either been had or was less than honest.
Yeh, Yeh, use the force Luke, or your psychic powers, LOL

Damn, $1000 to have it authenticated.

Best Regards Matt
On the look out for original ww2 M26 Adrian helmet liner.

His ad said he got it from his grandfather and had a photo of his grandfather with the helmet. So my question is why spend $1,000 for any verification. This is why you NEVER buy the story and only buy the item. IMHO

So was he offering it to you for less than the $7000 he was offered LOL?

I would have authenticated his helmet for free. But then it would have been worthless, at least to me LOL.

Doug this guy sent me 20 emails mostly lambasting me for my opinion and telling me how stupid I was. But in the process he told no less than five different stories including how others told him it was fake and then offered $2,000 for it. He got upset when I offered a quarter if he would pay shipping.

The whole thing is likely BS - including all the blather.........

I'm not a believer. If I had to go based on these pics, I'd keep it moving.
Craigslist is just like that site "ioffer".... 99.9% fake SS helmets.
Only once I saw a real SS on CL, and it was gone before you knew it. It was posted up by the grandaughter of the vet. An ET M35 double decal SS at that! And someone f*cking beat me to it.
Oh well, "easy come, easy go".
