All I know is if someone took a fingernail to my SS decals I would pull their fingernails out. After removing their fingers first...

The Q M40 decals are notorious for adherence and flaking issues.

Thank you for scraping off a $5000 chunk of that Q decal. Now, where do I send the invoice?

That's the thing. It didn't flake or anything. It had the 3 rivets of the combat issue helmets that I know of and I didn't feel any edges where it would've been a stick on decal.

99.9% of reproduction decals are not stick on. Even a bad reproduction decal adheres nicely to the shell.

$80-$100 should about do it. Were they thinking they had
a winner with this one at the shop.........?

Hello again, please hear what we are saying on the issue of "decal adherence!" Every decal needs to be assessed on it's own merits, some original decals may have been laquerd which will either tone the colour or indeed stabilise the decal itself(making it tougher to the "fingernail")that should not be used!!! Kriegsmarine decals are particually known for "flakeing" but as I have said before, use the resources here and study the differences in decal type(manufacturers)there is so much to be gained by a bit of research(it saves ££££/$$$$.) I believe they did. Because they believed this helmet, with the decals, was a Waffen SS helmet. I had my doubts about it so that's why I posted it. I know about the rivets, but the liner had the right number of fingers and the right smell that I know what to look for in leather liners.

    What was the asking price.

The original asking price was around close to $450, they were selling it for someone else, but they'd see about an offer. It would make a good conversation piece in my collection.

    Not for that price.
I am glad you did not buy it.

Yeah. And that's why it's best to research before you make an offer.
