Thanks John .... I have read this thread on GHW.....and is a hard jolt to the helmet collecting community. Yet I myself..can not pass any judgement or post an opinion on any of these helmets and the decals that are applied from the period to the recent. I dont collect them.
The most I can say..is the study is never over..no matter what information surfaces. History is larger.

Thanks William. "Drank the water" (not literally in Sri Lanka) and paid for it for a couple of days.........
Great thread by Doug. Everyone should read. Once explained seems quite simple but putting it all together must have been tough work. And will no doubt shake things up.

Morning all! I did read Doug's concise update on the "Champagne" decal a few weeks ago, and I must say that there will be a real "backlash" from some collectors over the issue. As for myself, I see no reason what so ever to disagree with Doug's research and conclusions into the decal. He has clearly spent many years putting a case for or against the "champagne" decal together, and as there was always a doubt over them until 20 or so years ago, when they eventually became accepted, I feel he has done a fine job. This will be unfortunately a real kick in the teeth for many (including Doug who will have owned a few of these), but he has clearly demonstrated that his personal collections value will not stop him from "calling out" the truth. Well done Doug! I wish you were still here!! Leon.
