Thanks guys, glad it's a fake, now I can go ahead and restore it for display without worry of destroying history. I just want it as a representation piece for my collection without spending real money.

Again, thanks for the information. BTW, Has anyone out there ever laid there hands on a late '20's production M18 cutout pattern helmet and taken pictures?

I focus mainly on Canadian WWI and WWII militaria, but pickup German WWI and misc WWII items when the mood strikes. I have a dozen or so Stahlhelms and Picklehaubes here and would love to get some input on them as well. I will post pictures in the appropriate forums and everyone can have at it.
