Great lid! But I have to say that the liner blood damage seems minimal compared to the shell damage. Are you sure the shell corrosion is blood damage?
There are any number of fluids ( organic, volatile or bodily ) that would be corrosive enough to do that. Sitting for some time in a puddle of oil, gore, battery acid, petrol - all of which would be found after a battle would give a similar result I would think.
Still, it makes for a emotive example .......

Great lid but as other mention I'm not 100% sure about the blood theory. Of course we will never know for sure and it certainly would be a possibility as blood is corrosive.
Maybe it was someone elses blood? We will never know...
Just had a thought though, I wonder if that test for blood you see on those CSI TV shows would still work after all this time? The test where they dip a cotton bud in some solution and wipe it on some piece of evidence and the color the swab turns indicates the presence of blood (or not).
A great looking DD SS M35. A beautiful helmet with a story to tell. Leon.
Another nice lid Jim , and one that conveys the mnfring process of some decals and also the effects of conflict , any reason why you show it after all this time , did you lose it among all your other lids ?? ,not that i'm complaining ,it was worth waiting for
