M42 SS wintercamo

This double decal SS helmet is a complete fake as was said earlier. It is actually a postwar shell made by Linnemann & Schnetzer (see round logo next to figure 6 in rear skirt) for Police and Bundes Grenzschutz (BGS) use. Stay clear!

Thanks for the info on the round stamp. I noticed it in the picture, and knew the helmet was post war west german, but since I don't have any post war german helmets in my collection I don't know anything about the manufacturers, etc. Thanks again for the information. Jim G.

Real shell, post war czech rework. The paint is post war czech, the liner post war czech police/civic, and obvious fake SS decals. I would be surprised if the seller wants people to believe that it is a period black DD SS, unless he doesn't know anything about helmets, but if he knows it is a reproduction, he should state that in the description so a novice buyer doesn't get burned. Yeah hate when they doesnt say its repro, fake etc on the ad (on tradera). I knew it was a fake one, but its easy to get fooled when you are a novice.

A very good advice from Jim.....
My advice : buy some documentation & books before helmets...especially if WSS or Fallschirmäger....and try to handle a few good ones to see how it should be...paint, smell, decal(s)..etc.....
