I would agree with dan, it would be hard to fake it over the damage and it does look like a legitimate ground dug example

Looks too far gone to make a determination based on photos. I would still be careful , a lot is possible when upgrading ground found shells. SS doubles the price or more...

It might be, but then it might not. We have to realize that fakers are getting better at aging and giving patina, and in some ways faking a partially eroded decal is easier as you only need to give a sniff of a rune outline for buyers to accept it as genuine. Proceed with caution, particularly if a price premium is being asked for "SS relics".
