    Hi Doug,
a question: on the pic n.0031 (the detail of the sieg runen) I see a "small totenkopf" on the lower part of the decal. Is this a real mark present on the decal? If yes, was it present on all the "SS" decal?

    best regards,
    Ivo

I think that you will find that it is Doug's "watermark"

It lets people know exactly where its from

Hi Sorry for the late reply, some laptop issues on the home front preventing me from using the darn thing....

Yes, John nailed it. I watermark the decals with my own "brand" of watermark, as there are those out there that are less than honest who will take a high quality decal picture and reproduce it as an "aged design decal" and sell it on the market. I have had 1 of my SS decals reproduced this way and while they responded positively to my demand of removing it from thier website as a for sale item, they cannot be trusted not to do it again.

I also watermark the decals vs putting a "tagline" on them like the other pics (Buhler SS Collection) so that collectors can get a cleaner look at them.

    Cheers
    Doug

Nice to see an original helmet with no repaints (contemporary that is), .. or camo ..

A good clean straightforward unmessed with item !!

Bit more than that Gary, due to it's traceable history and provenance this is probably one of the most collectable Waffen SS DD Helmets you will ever see !!

    Agreed !!
    Although I don't collect SS/German, I can appreciate the provenance ... It's a real collectors dream !!

The only "SS" helmet I have had painted SS runes on both sides which were scratched off.
.. Most people who have viewed it have written it off as non original.
.. However, some Dutch colleagues confirmed that it was the type issued by Dutch SS, and a few examples are known in Holland.

I actually purchased the helmet in Holland in 1986 as a straight forward 42/43 shear rim German helmet.
It was not till I examined in daylight that you could see where the SS runes have been scratched out.

.. But there you go ... it does not appear in any books, so therefore it can't be original ..
