    Some time ago i was chatting on here to a collector who had a Battle damaged lid which i thought looked like it had been deliberately damaged with a pick axe to render them useless after the War i believe this one has met a similar fate and i have included a pic of this practice

    The photo is a post WW1 pic but I'd still say that lid of yours was pick-axed.

    Hi Doug, Yes i can see that Mate, the Gent i mentioned earlier in my post had a WW1 lid but i could'nt locate the pic at the time, glad you agree with my theory, I've seen a few that people confuse with being battle damaged, but it looks quite obvious when you know this went on Post War. Well let's at least hope that's what happened.
