    Default Relic SS ET64

This relic SS lid has been covered before in my SS collection thread but DougB has requested a dedicated thread in this forum and who am I to refuse?

The helmet was purchased some years ago from fellow forum member and noted North Karelian digger 'Eismeerfront' (Maxim). It is an M40 Helmet of the SS Gebirgsjager Regiment 12, a bunker find from North Karelia on the Louchi front. Its an ET64, lot number 61 which matches to another SS SD M40 on the GHW database.

Now she's not pretty and looks like someone has once tried to 'fix' the damaged areas with auto body filler before giving up but in spite of that issue I find her to be a compelling relic. Not to mention an SS helmet I can actually afford!

Doug and Samir will be around soon enough to sort this one out. Controversial champagne decal?

    This comparison might be useful.

    Champagne

    ET

    Glenn's

I don't know if I am right in thinking this is one of the indicators of the champers decal, but the vertical border seems to be thicker than the border below the break, and the inside break looks to be very very slightly lower than the outside break?

The wear looks original to me, so I say (Three thumbs up)

I look forward to their views, for me...with no expertise in the matter...i'd be thinking plain old ET decal.

I'm leaning towards a good ET pattern decal, but wait for Doug to confirm, gents.
