Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
I don't know about authenticity, but any chance we could see the other side? It could just be a police shell, I believe the party shield had a white base as well

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
Looks like a repainted semi-relic shell to me, make a decision but i would walk away

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
I have never seen an SS M42 with that paint, only a police or early M40s and most 35s have the "pea green" paint, and this isn't even the right shade. My vote is also repainted semi-relic, aka garbage

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
It looked pretty convincing with the wear and all matching! (At least for me)

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
It may have been an SS helmet at one time, impossible to tell now really. The decal doesn't look to be inside any pitting but who knows.
It looks like somebody repainted it to me also.

Another time when the saying "Stick to your first opinion" is true!

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
Whether real or not, the decal is too far gone to tell.

Re: Second opinions of a worn SS decal
The wear to the decal is not natural. The shell finish is not bad which to me is further indication that this is not now and never was a SS decal.
