Default SS Helmet from the 1970's.. Nothing like a good old fake.. OR NOT??

    Hello everyone
Did I catch a bad one? I haven't payed it yet. I said that I will check first with the crew here ;-)
This helmet was in collection from a person I know since 1977. Well is this a good old vintage fake then?

What's with the coloration inside which was obviously added later and the rusty surface below the leather liner
shows no color remains. Liner and chinstrap could be original.. But decals, the paint outside, too many questions
Decals are different type when comparing them. I mean who was playing with this back in the seventies??
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks to all!
    D.H.

Thumbs down. Norwegian liner. I'm not a decal expert but look all bad to me.

Put together lid. Save your money.....

Thanks for the fast replies. I knew it but needed confirm as usual.
At least is the paint original? Liner war period or post war? The chinstrap?
The fat straw is obviously some replacement from who knows when. Is anything original besides the shell??
What bugs me is that this was in private collection since 1977 ( I know the person so no doubts about all those years..)
Already back then someone played with decals? 40 years old fake? I thought people were more into Abba in those days
(well ABBA had one Lebensborn member so it doesn't count as example.. )

Funny.. I also tell my wife these are investments but she doesn't know that many are fakes! :-(

Liner is Norwegian. Strap is not original nor german (maybe post war Norwegian, but I don't know). And as said, decals are bad. Nothing worth salvaging here IMHO

Don't feel bad...they were making fakes back in 1945...

The only thing 'original' about this is the shell. Norway
used what was then 'surplus' WWII German
    lids post-war.

And as to who played with these helmets in the 70's
    - I stripped a $25 Norwegian M42, spray painted it
black, and put fake decals on myself - likely in
    that very same year.

As our esteemed colleague FB says, there have
been fakes since 1945 - as soon as the
    war ended.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

got my first helmet from them. Begged my Dad. Think I was 8 or 9. A pea green M35 DD Heer. Played hard with thst lid and its still in great shape. Still have it too. Despite what it is (not), I will never sell it. It is now awaiting me paying off my waffen SS camo cover
