SS M40 DD helmet?

Article about: I would not rate my chances of a refund as it was bought in 2005. I obtained it from the Lanes Armoury in Brighton, I guess I will not be dealing with them ever again!

    Default SS M40 DD helmet?

I bought this some years ago before joining the forum. It was originally sold by The Old Brigade and is shown in their catalogue at the time number 36 page 27. I bought it from a shop in Brighton a few years later (Hawkins?). However, since joining this forum it appears many SS helmets are messed with / outright fakes so i am not holding out much hope. Described in the catalogue as a Waffen SS M40 Pattern DD helmet. Field grey in colour. Opinions welcome. Thank you.

I don't think it's genuine. Just seems too new to me. My amateur opinion.

How much did you pay for it, if I may ask? The asking price is usually a dead giveaway if it's from a militaria dealer.

There appears to my eyes that there is another decal behind the SS one, I wonder why?

I agree Ned it does look like there is another decal underneath.

Thank you Ned for your kind words. I definitely had mug on my face when I resumed collecting 13 years ago, and although I may have purchased some / many dodge items, since joining this forum I have acquired some nice pieces and avoided many fakes!

Ouch , any way you can return it ? I know of collectors who were able to get a refund after a couple of years even. Talking about 4000 euros.
The decals are definitely reproductions as is the chinstrap.
