Well whaddayaknow...this one has vanished from the estand as well.

FWIW I wouldn't even think of buying from anyone other than an established, well-known forum member. Too many 'Johnny-come-lately' one time posters with things to sell are popping up these days.

    Doesn't surprise me one bit.

I was thinking of buying this helmet but have the buyer send it to Doug for a hands on inspection using a USB microscope.

Good afternoon. Further to my conversation with Paul ; the first helmet that i had previously listed last week i purchased at a militaria fair here in UK so i can not say where the helmet originated from but the second helmet ( currently listed in the classified section ) I purchased from a Digger direct in Latvija , over the years i have purchased many relic helmets from him for my collection with this being one of them. My feeling is that it has always looked ok and to be quite honest when you look at the decal and the rust it appears to me that the decal has genuinely rusted away with the helmet. Kindest Regards .

So it's an SS based on your "feelings". When you sell a helmet wether a Luftwaffe, heer or any other, you sell it based on facts, not "feelings". By the way, what's up with "luftcollector"? Someone smeared on my ad this morning in the classifieds on a helmet that has already went up for review by a user who just registered. I have contacted the mods regarding this matter.

I based it as being an SS helmet due to the decal , regarding the " Luftcollector" ?? Sorry i have no idea as to what you are refering to. As i have just mentioned with Paul I am primarily a SS uniform collector , helmets are not my specialist field as they appear to be for you. I do appreciate all your kind comments .

    Hi waffen44,

The first helmet you posted has some red flags and should be looked at much closer before selling as a genuine SS in my opinion. The second is just too far gone to tell but I don't see any signs of tampering to apply a decal and age it to this extent, just my opinion based on the relics Ive seen posted over the years, I've not much experience handling them. It's buyer beware on relic SS. I agree with Samir, more relic SS than anything out there, but then 9 of 10 SS posted seem to be fake as well. Nature of the beast I suppose.

Not in every situation. In this situation we need ADM. The best known SS person is DougB. Noone's knowledge can't even come close and even he himself can't positively ID as a 100% original SS, not to mention the seller has been caught in the past trying to pass a fake one, and that doesn't help either.

I agree with you SSamir about knowledge of DougB.He,s like running SShelmets BIBLE.
About helmet -you can,t add fake dekal to such condition helmet .I mean you can-but it will be clearly seen, cauze you can,t age decal so naturaly to condition of helmet. As moustly SS helmets i pass trough my hands where from battlefields-surface found, half surface, completly from ground, wet bunkers with swampy water and many other -with different conditions of decals,-I compare this with all i seen and made my own verdict for this helmet.
But i respect your opinion very much .
