I'm glad you didn't lose too much money on this. If I were you, I would redo it and make it look a lot better than it does now.

I don't think I would know how to... What if I discover a couple of original decals underneath? Just kidding... I think I'll leave it as is until I find a way to get rid of it while breaking even...

Na, I might as well keep it. This is the first helmet I ever bought (in 1989, was 17 back then!) and it still does display pretty well (I'll meet Schwarpunkt halfway and say: at 5m onwards!)

If you ever decided to sell it, you could probably get back what you put into it by selling it to a reenactor. The price you paid for it is typical for a refurbished original shell.
