SS Steel Helmet Real or Fake

guys ,think you are on the ball re the shell . the more you look at it the more darth vader it becomes . years ago i talked myself into buying an ss helm , costly mistake .but nobody to blame but myself! all helmets are very well faked from the cheap Chinese copies to the artistic one off. it pays to spend money on reference books and research . we all get caught at times but if you have an idea of what to look for you, can avoid many an expensive mistake ,,cheers paul

It is completely bogus from the decal down to the shell itself.
I think this is a Chinese copy, for all the same suspect reasonings stated above.
The maker/size stamp is in the wrong position on the rim with an incorrect size and font !

Looks like a previous owner must have tossed it about the room when he too discovered
it to be a fake, with all those deep, angry, slashing scratches !

I hope you did not pay too much, and are able to return it for a refund.

The shell is one of the poor repro's flooding ebay. Send it back if you can.

It IS a fake and I know this for a fact ! If its the helmet that i think it is ! It was mine at one point and it is a repo with fake decals made for a play we did at my school

well I am here to learn from you guy's, but I thought the ss decal didn't look right, but after I looked at it again, I see what you mean about the ear flap, it seems to have a sharp 90 degree angle too it, the reason I stopped buying stuff on ebay after I got a real bargain on a japanese bayonet, they had taken a dremel tool too it, the serial #'s were ground off , oh well live & learn.

That is one of the more comical helmet shell repros on the market and without question those decals would not fool a blind man. Before buying an SS spend some time doing some research and would save a lot of precious time.

Who cares if the shell is real ?? It's ruined anyway by the world's easiest to spot SS fake decals I ever laid my eyes on and by the black paint.
