What a real SS winter camo looks like
An EF M42 SS winter camo that was found last year in poor storage and came from Dave Shirlin out of the woodwork to my Wall O Helmets. The lot number is 1279 in a large size 68 and missing the strap with some vermin damage to the felt liner padding. Note the rust bleed, yellowing, wear to the high points, camo remaining in the recessed areas, and wear where the soldier habitually took the helmet on and off by gripping the front of the brim with his fingers and near the lot number.
This would be a good study for those considering to buy a camo of any kind but in particular a winter camo.

Textbook EF runic decal, showing rust bleed and overpaint and yellowing from aging whitewash and poor storage conditions.
The decal is watermarked to prevent forgery.
