Not sure, Andy. but this is one of those lids that needs a hands on inspection for sure. A 20X loupe is probably all you need to determine if that portion of the police decal is sitting on top or under. I would also like to see the otherside of this helmet.
Hi guys thanks for the help so far, so it's most likely a Pocher decal? I'm going to take some sharp pictures this afternoon. Of course, the right side of the helmet is pictured here. I'll also take pics of the left side Partei decal as it is a double decal relic which was found in Novgorod/ Russia.
Cheers,
Ken
Here they are.. Hope they're sharp enough to study them profoundly...
In case it's of any use, here's a pic with glowing edge filter. I think SS samir could be right about the Police decal sitting on top. That could explain the magnificent condition of the colors of the runic shield. In real life it has some sort of metallic hue to it.
With the decal on the right and the Police bird OVER the runes, maybe it is an ET runic decal after all.
In real life the white of the runic shield has more of a yellowish patina to it, says here in Ken Niewiarowicz' book that such a patina is typical of Quist-manufactured decals. Given the light grey color of the helmet, is there any chance that his could be a DD M40 SS helmet manufactured by Quist?
Patina would be irrelevant in this condition. If the police decal is over the runes then I go with ET as well.
Cool.. Thanks for your help!
IMO, I think its an M35, not M40. Its a nice relic.
Samir
