You are absolutely right. They have applied the decal and then tried to burn/heat the decal avoiding decal remnants in the dents. The party decal looks more like a sticker than a decal, and it's probably why they failed. Not so obvious on the "SS" decal.

Looks like the same guy with the Daggers. I suggest you stay clear of him. He does not seem to care much about what he tries to sell to people. He could research if he cared about it. At least you research

I'm not sure it's an M16 mate, the rivets are not in the right place for the chinstrap lugs on the skirt, and they're flat rather than domed.

I'd say some kind of interwar commercial lid.

Krad, actually, M16's were known to have flat rivets as well. Heres a pic of a very early black SS Austrian. This one has the painted decals.

Ahhh, I didn't give that lid enough credit when I saw it the other day. The missing corner from the tri makes sense now with the LAH connection. Very cool indeed
