Thanks for sharing this William! That would easily catch someone out!

Thank you for posting William, is this a recent fake to appear?
A good effort to fool the unwary, especially at a militaria fair or somewhere it could look good in hand and draw someone into taking a chance.
Those die flaws, inner corners and date are good features to bear in mind.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
ya know I don't honestly know. I believe this same fake comes marked L/54, and L/12 as well. I would venture to guess this is a more recent produced fake - whoever did it certainly had a decent knowledge of EK's
Watch out though, as these come with NUMEROUS different markings, different needles, and different catches, but all utilize the same basic frame - keep an eye on those large die frame flaws in the beading as they are the most recognizable trait IMO
Also, the core is almost like a Souval in some respects; the swastika has very fat arms and instead of a "dipping 3" we see one that is opposite and almost sits higher than the other numbers is "1939"
- here is L/57 marked cross

and here we have a screwback cross
and here is a good reference thread showing a hybrid:

and I will also post a L/56 marked fake
