Hi, is there anybody out there with information as to where these EK1's were found, who found them ? or any information whatsoever, all seem to have slight bubbling of paint, all have the late war issue case with square button, the one I have was originally purchased from German dealer Helmut Weitze, Regards Phil

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting your superb cross.
The Russian hoard crosses surfaced sometime around December of 1999. Apparently the story is that someone in Russia discovered a German Infantry Division's EK1 supply. They were in a foot locker, there is some doubt whether they were found in a bunker or on a train (not sure why there is doubt but I've heard two stories).
Helmut Weitze bought them and them sold them on.

They are not all sold yet, Weitze stand had a cartoned EKI by this maker last Sunday.
I have to say that that are so impressive.. very very nice ! but they asked 900.-

These were in the Russian Hoard? I didn't know that! Thank you for showing, it's a superb cross, is it marked?

Hi Adrian,
Yes these are part of the hoard.
It is not marked but it does have the the die flaw on the 6 o'clock arm found
on all B.H.Mayer crosses.

I bought this one from a WAF forum member who purchased it from Weitz.
