I'm inclined to agree with Nick.
The maker's mark and hardware are incorrect for this maker as well.

I was very intrique and curious because Nicks statement, so I have started the thread about this cross on Wehrmacht awards forum and German combat awards site as well. I still think that this EK1 is genuine Rettenmaier piece, but we will see what will be thoughts of members of that two other forums regarding that. It is interesting piece, that is for sure.

Mmm, I look forward to hearing more about this cross. If it is a fake it would hoodwink me which is disturbing. However that is why I'm on this forum to learn.
