    The convex shape is normal. My own example is exactly the same. My understanding is that it was meant to fit the uniform better during wear.

    Beautiful cased iron cross and I think this one is scarce, I didnt see Funcke und Bruenninghaus EK1 to often. Great find and as Brodie has already mentioned its quite normal for this crosses to be vaulted a little bit. Sometimes recipients have done that.
