Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse mm109

Article about: Picked this one up, unmarked cross but marked packet of issue, couldn't resist because of the price.

    Hello Stefan,

    That is a very nice cross, but I really don't think it's a '109'....
Am I the only one, or does anyone else believe it's a K&Q?

Walter & Henlein packets are frequently found with mismatched unmarked crosses. It's only recently that a certain type of cross was attributed to W&H after a few identical crosses were found in the these packets. (I believe they were vet pick-ups).

Yours is not the same cross as Nick's or mine (sadly suffering major paint loss).

Adrian, can you post yours for comparison?

    Regards - Danny

Certainly, mine is the same as yours Danny, an S&L type frame.

I think you're right about the one posted by Stefan, it does look like a K&Q..........

I have taken a couple of bad nighttime shots to try and compare. I will take some better in daylight hours.

The frame is definitely thinner than your two.

The beading pattern and dates are consistent with a K&Q cross.

    Yes Stefan,

It's a Klein & Quenzer cross alright, but no worries,
it's still a perfectly good (and IMO, better looking than a '109') wartime EK2.

It's original owner didn't care who made it, but I'm sure he was very proud of it.
Us collectors can sometimes get too hung up on acquiring every variant and maker and can forget what made us want to own an iron cross in the first place. This was certainly the case with me.

    Regards - Danny

Cheers Danny and for everyones help, outstanding as always.

The first cross I purchased last year was supposed to be a K&Q but when I received it was a Schneider, sellers mistake. I didn't really care then and not now but makes up for it in a roundabout way.

Have taken a couple of better shots of my new 65.
