Hey. I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if an Iron Cross 2nd class is real or fake. If so, I would appreciate it if you can give me some tips. Thanks guys.

Magnetic, made in three parts, etc. There are plenty of originals
on the Forum to see and learn from.........

Thanks.
Wait so if it is not magnetic, does it mean its automatically fake?
Those are the very basic things to look for, but very few cores
will not be magnetic. That, combined with other known
features, will enable you to tell the difference.
Can you post a pic.........?

Steve.
I can, but i can't right now. Since im not using my computer at the moment, i can't post any pictures yet. I will definatley post a few pictures when i have the time to on my computer.
Hello MiGor and welcome to the forum.
There are many of us who can tell you if an EK is real or fake and we can even tell you the maker based upon it's features.
It's very hard to give any tips because a fake EK will look the same as a real EK. They will have a frame and a core they will be made from one piece too, just like some originals so the question you ask is impossible to answer in just a few lines.
The way to differentiate between what is a fake and what is genuine is experience and study. Some original crosses look that rough they could be mistaken for fake and some fakes are that good they can be mistaken for original. Each maker has different features and clues to look for.
Post pics of your cross and we can go from there. It is much easier to work from an image.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

moulding/casting marks ).........
