Looks like an original '23' - Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Heereshedarf darf In der Graveur-u. Ziseleurinnung. The ribbon is good too. How much is being asked?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
hello, what year would this version be from? seller is asking $100 dollars. also if its a 23 shouldn't it have a 23" marking somewhere?
Not all crosses are maker stamped. I think $100 is a good price.
$100 is an average price for a unmarked cross. I've seen them go
as high as $150. The ribbon alone can be $20 or more.........

Steve.
This is the 1939 version as you can tell by the date on the lower arm of the cross. The institution date of the Eisernes Kreuz, 1813 is always on the reverse lower arm and the date of the then current version is always on the front. For example, 1870, 1914 and 1939. The 1957 version was not a new version but a denazified version of the 1939 so that's why they aren't marked as such. The swastika is only found on 1939 awards also.
Not all EKs are marked, in fact the majority are unmarked. They were only required to be marked with a PKZ number from 1944 so there are five years worth of unmarked EKs around somewhere!
$100 is a reasonable price.

That is a lovely cross, I would certainly buy it at that price

Another original cross but I can't be sure of the maker from these images.

As Adrian has said, it is very difficult to tell the maker from these images (second cross),
but from what I can see, it looks like it may be a Lauer '14'.
