How come one is faded and one is dark?

They look totaly different. Ive never seen a military medal in these conditions.

This is like disrespecting old people

As steve says, different storage condition can affect any medal in different ways. I have crosses which look like they were made yesterday and others which have black frames and rust on the cores.

It is not disrespectful if you own crosses in a poor condition. It's disrespectful if you don't do your best to preserve them as they are part of history.
