Yea still a nice set tho cheers Nick. And i know what you mean terry there is good info in the useful links sticky on the orders and decorations section, also good info on eks on wehrmacht-awards.com. I would like to learn how to tell the difference between a good and bad case?

PKZ crosses were the original crosses awarded and had a maker number stamped on them, in this case a 26 for BH Mayer. If the awardee required another cross he had to privately purchase one and these were LDO marked, prefixed by an 'L/'. So in the case of a Mayer it would have an L/18 stamp on it.
They would also come with a case with LDO as in your example.
Do some searches and you will find much more info
