Agreed, and I cant believe how often these buggers keep appearing on the scene.
It also amazes me why fakers would use a spurious number like 51 !

I also have wondered why they use 51 , it's the same with the 333 EK2's , why dont they use known numbers , as too the new collector if he has seen that ek's are marked 7 , 13 , 44 etc that is all he will be looking for , he wont be bead counting or looking for die flaws if he doesn't know they should have them .
Exactly ! Oh well thankfully they didnt !

Often the faker maker will add a 'wrong' number in the hope of enticing unsuspecting buyers to part with their money for a 'rare' maker. As these get passed on down the chain over time, dodgy dealers will offer them as the same, either aware or not that they're passing on a fake. If the prices for these crosses were €50 each it is only a half hearted appemt to sell them as original as most genuine collectors won't buy the price.
Regarding the '333' marked fakes, I believe there was a genuine reason for them to be marked as such but can't remember for the life of me what it was. If anyone knows, please post here.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I have heard of these conspiracy theories:
1. Its a Japanese fake as some Japanese NCO swords are marked 333
2. Weitze thinks its a genuine maker from Strassbourg
3. The faker used digits from his birthday dates
???

Or turn the digits on their sides...
And you get three arses!
I asked both sellers and indeed they're marked 51.
I don't yet own a EK so i would have bought one if not for this forum....they look good.
Thank you again guys
