Yes, it is a fake case. It looks very like a (messed with) Tony Yeomans (Muller Militaria) case.
Here's some I used to own for comparison (although the impressed line is missing from the edges).

Thanks for examples Danny always good to have something for reference. Fake cases don't seem to pop up much? For something which can be just as expensive
