    Default Ek2, Arno Wallpach!

Hi, just want to hear your opinions about this one. I'm really close to buying it!

The cross is marked "108" on the ring (Arno Wallpach, Salzburg)
    The price is around 70€

    Hi Anton

The core looks a bit suspect but I am sure the boys will confirm

A not often seen maker , I hope its a good one !

I've never seen or heard of an EK2 by this maker in the last twenty years of collecting.
The cross looks like a Fritz Zimmermann - makers mark '6' to me.
I would be very interested to see the makers mark and would advise extreme caution if you're thinking of purchasing. I would ask for pictures of the makers mark before doing anything else and post them here.
It could be a misread stamp or a post war addition.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

I've just asked for a picture of the "108" marking. I think that the cross itself looks good. But as you said Adrian, it could be a missreading or very unclear makers mark (or postwar).

Do you recognize the frame? Does it look like another maker?

    Hi Nick,
Yes, Wallpach is on the makers list as they were a manufacturer of TR decorations. Not every company listed there made EK2s though.
If you want a challenge, try and find a '108' marked EK of any class or an EK packet or box marked to Wallpach.

If this is the mark, it's pretty suspect IMO. I can't quite make it out?

Although the cross frame looks ok. I think it's been re-painted

Yes, definately a suspicious mark. Not sure about the repaint though, the finish looks original to me.
