EK2 which maker???

Hello guys, a friend of mine gaved me this EK2 today.
Here, for you he sayed... hehe.

It is marked '23' on the ring.
Who is the maker of this EK?

I do am a little conserned because of the black color of the medal.
Looks like it is repainted at some time.
Please tell me I'm wrong...!!!

The cross is 3 piece constructed so that's okay I guess... :-)

Maker '23' is - Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Heereshedarf darf In der Graveur-u. Ziseleurinnung. The core is from Meybauer and looks fine, I don't believe it has had a re-paint.

Yes I agree the core on this one looks painted
