On a cost issue, if there is one? would there be any difference between a K&Q and BS, one being more desirable than the other?

I thought so but had to check!

In terms of value there is little to choose between them. A '106' - Brüder Schneider is less common than a '65' - Klein & Quenzer but there shouldn't be any difference in the prices - depending on where you shop. They will always be around the same price.

Thanks Adrian, it's always good to check these things.

Godet seems to be very popular, due to being Berlin no doubt. Although a Deschler would be nice (1).

Deschler, Juncker, Godet are the 'grandee' manufacturers and their crosses always seem to command a premium price purely because of demand. You need to shop around because they can be found quite reasonably.

I would be pleased with that 106! K&Qs although beautiful and generally considered a collectors favourite are quite easy to get hold of
