    Default ek2 unknown variant?

Hello, i spotted this cross and thought it unusual, seller says it is slightly bigger and heavier than a standard cross, with the ribbon retainer attached to a small lug projecting from the upper arm. Also it is maker marked but hard to read.

    Is it a rare variant?

    Cheers

    Hi Rory,

It looks like a good Deschler to me.

They have the 'hump' (and very distinctive one at that - notice the 'hole' in the reverse of it) and they are usually a little heavier than other standard crosses.

    Regards - Danny

    Rory,
That mark you show is for jump ring placement, not actually a hole at all.
But the one on the Deschler is actually a hole through one entire side of the frame hump.

Three Deschlers showing the 'hole' on the reverse.

Rory, the cross you have shown with the ring placement marking is a Souval...
If I remember correctly, these are commonly found with the jump ring only soldered on one side.

Danny is absolutely correct, the first cross is a Deschler and Souval crosses only had the suspension ring soldered onto one side of the frame, usually the front.
