EK2s were issued in an envelope as below but privately purchased pieces could be bought in a hard case. Sonny has one or two of these, hopefully he might post one if he reads this thread.

the reason i wanted to know the ek2 i have. stamped 44 on the ring w/magnetic center came in a hard case.the inside of the case is blue upper and lower.does that sound right. and would these private purchase ek2 w/hardcase be worth more because of the case.thanks for your help. deadeye
Can you post some photos of it?
Generally speaking the private purchase or LDO crosses in an original case command a premium price especially if the markings on the case match the markings on the cross. This doesn't always happen of course, neither item may be marked or the cross and case have been married together since the war or you can get a fake cross in an original case and vice versa.
