Very nice example. whatever you do dont clean it! i cant believe some people get medals and shine them up or wipe off all the beautiful patina due to age. I have my iron cross displayed with my mothers cross and 25yr service cross, Im trying to build up a variety of examples that used the cross as a design feature.

Thank you guys for the kind words! The case is obviously not original to the medal.... when these we're awarded did they arrived in a special case/container/package? Oh and Maximus.... don't worry I never had any intension to "clean" my medal!

I have seen them in cases, not sure how they were awarded, Ive also seen the EK2 paper issue envelopes for sale, which is alot cheaper then buying an original case!

I believe envelopes were the norm but Ek2's were issued in cases at times.
Nick's example from a previous thread.
