The frames on these are prone to seperating unfortunately due to the manufacturing process. The frame halves weren't soldered together as normal but pressed hard together, the pressure fusing the halves to each other so no other substance is used to adhere them. This is known as the 'Gablonzer' method. Over time they do come apart.
I have a minty set in packet which had never been issued and the frames had come apart. I used a very small amount of super glue and a padded clamp to prevent it getting worse.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I have a couple of EK's similarly coming apart at the seams
EK 2 Gablonz method?
