It looks like the story has changed over the years. The set did not belong to Wittmann but to Panzer Meyer. A fellow collector has pointed this out to me. Now, looking at it more closer I can see "Meyer" scratched to the back of the cross.
Can we see a closer photo of the name please Klaus?

Has anyone seen a photo of Meyer wearing this buttonhole arrangement? It would be interesting if one could be found.

Here is a picture which has been posted on the net about 3 years ago. I can´t show more than this one does. The name is very very hard to read and you really need a bit of fantasy to read.
The collector said "This one has just surfaced at a local collector from Hagen, where Kurt Meyer was born and died.
The set was in the collectors hands since the late 50s."
I guess we'll never know but it's an interesting piece and good to see these miniatures so thank you for posting it!

Sorry not sold on this one.

Thanks for all your replies. Meyer or not, it´s a nice miniature and I think this is how we should handle this if we don´t have a firm proof that it belonged to him. A rare piece in any way in my eyes.
