My Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse's arrived
Hi all,
Thanks to the advice of you talent folk and as much research as I could do on my own, my 4 EKII's arrived today. Very excited.
I want to give one away to a friend who is also getting into collecting German militaria, so now I have to make a decision as to which one. Tough choice... any opinions on which are the best to keep?
Cross 1
Cross 2
This one sadly came with a brand new ribbon, but I can deal with that.
Cross 3
This one is pretty shiny around the edges, having been cleaned, that's a shame. It also came with a button on a piece of ribbon. I looked up the button, and looks like a regular soldiers glass button, any reason it would be pinned to a folded ribbon piece?
Cross 4
This one had the oldest looking ribbon, but like 3, it's been polished around the edges.
Cheers all!

I'd give him whichever one he likes best. They are
all very nice EK's.
The piece with the button is a lapel ribbon
- it's the reverse side you are showing
in the pics.........

Aaah that makes sense! Thanks Steve.

Very nice original crosses!
You may have a couple of S&Ls , a Deumer and a K&Q there
Nick Hessens will confirm when he sees your thread

All are good. None of them seem cleaned to me, just lovely factory frosting?
Cross 1: '7' - Paul Meybauer
Cross 2: '27' - Anton Schenkl
Cross 3: Standard St&L IMO
Cross 4: '106' - Brüder Schneider
When it comes to rarity cross 4 is the one you may want to keep. No. 3 is the only unmarked cross I can see, so that would be my choice to give away.

Thanks for the info all
@Nick, yes, that's the only one where it looks like the ring is a replacement, as it has a much darker sheen compared to the others, and no makers mark. Because it comes with the lapel ribbon too, it'll make a nice present I think.

They are all very nice crosses!
Congrats!
Ralph.
Next time, please post them each in a separate thread, it makes it less confusing and also easier to do a search for. Also, please have a read and use the pinned threads at the top of this section.
