Roger, I think that could be a fake. Adrian will be able to confirm. I think that '5' stamp is wrong.
I was caught out with a fake '5' and yours looks the same. I will get a pic and post it

Oh no... Mr. Floch has struck again.
Sorry, for the bad news Roger.
Regards - Danny
P.S. Nick, yours is a Floch cross also.
@ Adrian:
I don't believe I have ever seen your marked '5', is it posted anywhere here?
I didn't think they actually existed.
I agree, it 's fake and actually there are no crosses that let me think they come from Wernstein factory.
Oh, darn.
Well, I will mark this one down as a fake. I passed up several others because they didn't look quite right to me. I guess I didn't check this one close enough. I was a bit bothered by the red rust in the upper corner, but let myself be swayed by that really nice '5' mark. At least this one will be out of circulation, then.
Thank you all for pointing this out. I should have recorded the name of the dealer, then I could go back over there and get a refund (maybe). Lesson learned.
Here you go Danny, my marked '5' EK2. As you can see, it's a 'standard' S&L type but with a makers mark that could be believable. I'm not of course saying that this is a definite Wernstein, it may be a post war marked cross or it might not. I've never come across this style of makers mark before and it looks a lot more likely than most others I've seen. It also looks like it's been there some time.
I guess everyone can make their own minds up........
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
