    oh never new that nick in the film i mentioned it looked like the ring was just hangin from the pocket button, how did they convert them? attach pins to the back or remove the rings?

    Both of the above Rory , I have seen some some attached with nappy (dyper) pins !!

    If you mean the photo below Rory, in this instance the safety pin is attached to the tunic and the ribbon stuffed through it, not pinned through the ribbon. This (I'm guessing) is purely for photographic purposes.
