Not in my opinion. I've never seen an original RK box that opens lengthways. It looks like a jewellery or watch case.
The ribbon I've seen before and sure comments were made about it at the time?

none that i know of were made about the ribbon

There was no cut out inside this case? It just "squeezes" the Ritter to hold it? Sorry, but this case does not look military at all and I think someone just stuck this cross inside it because it fit in it, is all. You can clearly see the impression of the cross in the lower third of the case-what was in the upper 2/3 s of it? It wouldn't make sense. It looks to me, like it was a jewelry case for something like a necklace.

the way the hinges are configured and the push button without the collar around it and the general appearance... well... it's a total guess but this looks like a jewelry box from circa 1920 or so.
