I am far away to be a knight cross collector, but i am pretty sure that it is a fake.
i would tend to agree, quality is lacking on the RK.
Before thinking of buying a RK it is best to study them , then the answer would be there immediately it is a fake i'm afraid.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Thank you gentlemen, greatly appreciated. I haven't seen it myself; my friend sent me the pics and I was suspicious, but don't know enough about it. Again; if it seems to be too good...
Is the date on the reverse being so off center something you would see on an original? I would guess not with such a high end award, but not impossible I suppose.
Off centre dates don't mean fake. The core is a separate piece and can move around within the frame, some more so than others, so it will not always be centred. This applies to any EK that is not a one piece.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Another 'New Rounder' fake.
