Well, maybe You are right but I personally do not see any point of making such high grade replicas in war time Leningrad just for propaganda reasons. Also German (and latin alphabet) was unknown to the most of Soviets did not understand what Raub und Mord means anyway. I belive these items are just very well made fantasy pieces.

I agree with "Dimas" ive heard about these crosses before, i have read the document(i read russian) and it is from an archive book that was rewritten in the 60s. There was only 500 pieces made in Leningrad during the siege, it was part on a special propoganda operation against german troops, one on the desperate moves of the stalin regime,. True the conditions in Leningrad were terrible and one would think that no one would waste time on such things, but the soviet regime did not care about loss of life or the suffering of its citezens as much as they cared about that sort of propoganda effort. The front read "For Atrocities and Murder" and the year 1941 (the year that Hitler unleashed the campaing against soviet union), soviet field spies had to clip these on injured or dead german troops. Example of this cross can be found at the Moscow Great patriotic war musium.

I am new in the forum and this is the first time I am writing.
I have one of them, a 2 class. I buy it from Denmark together with a german stochmine.
I am not suprised of the existense of a well done propaganda Iron cross. To make use of that kind of effect was more important then some thousands of people starving to death.

Iron cross, fake is fake, if it try to imitate an original or this propaganda one. It was not any big kost anyway and I keep it in my exebition as it is, a fake.
The problem with finding the good one make it too a slow project but I do have time.
My fake have a brand new look and I will later put a picture here.
