That is so sweet very very nice This is only an assumption did they go to the clam shell desighn for the purpose of attachment as it would ahear better to the inside lining of the tunic and this would stop the badge from moving keeping it in its up right position.

That would make sense Mark. Screw backs were only available for private purchase, they were never awarded so you will either find unmarked or LDO numbered. I believe most screw backs are found on earlier crosses as they were left over from WW1
