Two EK's1, manufacturers?

Article about: This one has me puzzled. I did think Meybauer like Nick but the dates don't match what I would know as a Meybauer and I've never seen an EK1 from this maker with a flat catch, they're usuall

    Are the pics definitely of the same cross? The reason I ask is because the obverse image has very rounded outer corners to the frame and the reverse pic shows a very sharp reverse profile, pointed corners and narrow inner corners and the trim outline of the reverse plate looks different.

    Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
