The screw back, now I've had a better chance to look at it I would call an original cross. The Souval EK1 has a few questions. The frame is a Souval, the core possibly an Orth or possibly postwar? The pin is either a replacement or the whole thing has been fabricated since May 1945. I hope Fabri sees this thread and can give his opinion.

Souval and Orth manufactured EK1s using pieces made by the other company, therefore it is common to find Souval frames and an Orth core. Many makers of EKs did this, it is not unusual. Juncker and Wachtler & Lange did it, Steinhauer & Luck supplied frames to several other companies.

It is also possible to find original EKs and other badges with a name scratched in the back. It is also possible to find fakes with names and dedications engraved or scratched on the back as the fakers seek to make things more believable.
