I was not originally aware that this cross has the 'dotted' date, it is contentious to say the least at the present time as an argument rages whether these are truly of wartime manufacture or not. There are also other issues raised concerning the maker mark and 11 o'clock die flaw.

For me personally, were I to be presented with one of these for purchase and basing that purchase decision on what is presented here:- Dotted Deutsche Kreuz in Gold Authentic or post war copies - Page 4 - Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums I don't think I would want to pay full price for one of these. But I am still keeping an open mind and hope for the sake of those that own these pieces that they are proven to be period made.

But as things stand at this moment in time I would not have purchased this cross as it is. In future, if the design is proven to be 100% good, then I wouldn't have a problem, but at this time it's a reluctant no-no.

The above thread on WAF reads from the bottom of page 4 backwards to page 1 for reasons unknown to me....

I agree with Ned and after reading up on the dotted Zimmermann ( pg 204-211 ) it seems the pin on your cross has the full 20 and in the book it shows to have the top of the 20 missing but they only show a gold. It may have been a surplus pin who knows but it still has not been confirmed as war time manufacture. Is the medallion plate magnetic ? I am sure there are other members who know way more than I and can put their thoughts out here for us to learn by.
