I have a cased L55 EK1 and under the award mount is the following stamped number. I'm curious, does this number indicate anything in particular?

Is there any marks under the base that you lift ? if no, maybe the manufacturer used this number to id "EKI base/case/part".

I'm not into cases but perhaps its an inspection stamp, a parts stamp as Fabri suggests? Do most cases have these marks? Are they different? Do crosses/cases from the same maker have the same number?

In my opinion not so many Adrian. Yes, different, here we have seen a stamp, others are hand written. I have no answer for the last question..

Are the marks always a three digit format? Are there any high numbers?

There is a number under the award mount board, I will take a photo tomorrow as it's after midnight now, I'm a bit drunk and I've just bought a 57 RK...I need to sleep while my credit card digests the news!

I don't know really, maybe you can tell me? All I know is it has the cool '800' stamp and with the way the ribbon has been stitched for wearing, it will display nicely with my TR EK1 and EK2.

Now back to the Etui numbering mystery, the following code is embossed on the underside of the award mount card. '621 RB'

I'm guessing the plots thickens with no answer in sight?
