What makes me nervous about this cross is the date on the reverse so low down and on an angle.

I am sure the experts will allay my fears as it is probably a unique makers trait

    Hmm.....
I don't know about the case, not my area so can't offer you any info on that item but it doesn't look like a period example to me. Hopefully one of the other guys can take a look and give a more educated opinion.

I would like to see some better pics of the EK, straight on and closer would help. At first glance I thought it was an Orth judging by the thin suspension ring and large diameter thin ribbon ring but the dates on the core don't match my example.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

I'll try to get some better pics. I have to find my glasses, but I can't see a makers mark anywhere.

..so just a pic straight on, looking down at it then?

ps...I love it when you cats change my posts to the correct German...makes me look all smart

Yes please, would like to see the inner corner detail of the beading next to the swastika.

It's no problem, Ade pays me £1 for each thread title I change.........

The frame looks like a standard S&L design. Hard to put a maker to it as several manufacturers used these frames for their crosses.

I 'm with Adrian. I don't see a detail that let me think you have a fake.
About case, this type IMO is not contemporary, it 's a modern copy.
